SEKEM School
SEKEM School was founded in 1989, it includes a primary and secondary schools for 300 pupils. It is situated 50 km. north east of Cairo on the fringe of the desert. The name SEKEM is the transliteration of a hieroglyph, meaning "vitality".
We follow the Egyptian Curriculum in addition to special courses in eurhythmy, crafts, drama, dance and music.. Working and learning go hand in hand at all levels. Our school has spacious and well equipped facilities including workshops and a theatre. We receive our education in Arabic language , but we have language classes in English and German
We have a big celebration every year in March for the anniversary of our foundation, in that day we try to think of what we achieved during the year
We joined the UNESCO youth festival in Stuttgart in summer 2009, it was a great experience for us.
We want to participate in "Blue Roots" to share our experience with other schools and to get to know other experiences.
